Franklin Lakes' Borough Council Bans Smoking in Parks, Public Buildings

Franklin Lakes’ Borough Council has passed an ordinance that bans smoking - including e-cigarettes - in parks, recreational facilities and public buildings in town.

The ban also prohibits smoking and carrying lighted tobacco within those areas on certain streets, like Arbor Road, Hobar Court and Parsons Pond Road, but does not include smoking or carrying lighted tobacco in a moving motor vehicle on those streets, according to NorthJersey.com.

Those who violate the ban will be subject to a $250 fine for the first offense, a $500 fine for the second offense and a $1,000 fine for subsequent offenses after.
