Franklin Lakes Man Charged With Burglary After He 'Confronts' Homeowner: Police

Franklin Lakes police charged a resident of the town with burglary late last month, they said.

FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ — Police charged a Franklin Lakes man with two offenses after they were alerted to a potential burglary in progress, they said.

Omar Ali Ahmed, 45, was charged with burglary and attempted motor vehicle theft on Sept. 26, said police in Franklin Lakes.

Police said that at 10:10 a.m. that day, they were "alerted to a potential burglary in progress on Packer Ave via SPEN radio. Investigation revealed the suspect confronted the homeowner in the driveway while they were seated in their vehicle."

Police said no physical contact was made and nothing was taken.

Franklin Lakes and Wyckoff police officers arrived on scene and took the suspect into custody without incident, police said.
