Letter: Board Wants Input on Superintendent Search

At the March 24th Board of Education meeting, the Board approved the retirement of Dr. Janet Razze, Superintendent of Schools, effective June 30, 2010. Since April 6th, Mr. Richard Kuder has been serving the District as Acting Superintendent and will continue in this position through June 30, 2010.

The selection of a permanent Superintendent is one of the most important actions a Board of Education can undertake, and it is our commitment to enter into this process with as much community input and transparency as is practical. A full search process may take six to eight months or longer. The Board of Education has discussed various options in filling the Superintendent's position, including hiring a search firm. Before we begin the search for Dr. Razze's replacement, we must find an individual to serve as Interim Superintendent. Recently, the Board advertised for the position of Interim Superintendent effective July 1, 2010.

On June 7, 2010, during the Board of Education meeting to be held at Eisenhower School, the Board will offer the first of several opportunities for the public to comment on the next Superintendent and the search process. The opportunity for public comment will take place after the Board's Award Ceremony that begins at 6:30 p.m. If you are unable to attend this Board meeting, or any other meeting, you may submit your comments to the Board of Education's e-mail address: boe@wyckoffschools.org.
