North Jersey Man Arrested in Wyckoff for DWI, Providing False Information

A North Jersey man was arrested in Wyckoff for allegedly driving while intoxicated and providing a false name when apprehended by police.
Wyckoff police stopped a vehicle driving erratically on Franklin Avenue on Dec. 20 at 1:30 a.m. and encountered the driver, who claimed he didn’t have a driver’s license with him, Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin C. Fox said.
The man verbally provided a name and address to police, but the information could not be substantiated by computer and police determined the man was actually Brian C. Powell, 32, of West New York.

Powell was arrested for DWI and computer checks revealed that there were active warrants for his arrest, Chief Fox said.
Following a breath test at police headquarters, Powell was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while his license is suspended, reckless driving, and providing false information in an attempt to hinder his apprehension.

Powell was committed to the Hudson County Jail on the outstanding arrest warrants.
