Ramapo Girls Soccer

The Lady Raiders varsity team manhandled Fair Lawn on Tuesday, putting on an offensive show while earning the shutout in goal.

The girls won 8-0 to improve to 8-0 on the season, while Fair Lawn fell to 2-7.

Ramapo scored only two of their goals in the first half but got key contributions from much of the team to post the wide margin of victory. Jen Andresen led the way, scoring two goals and assisting on four others. Sarah Halejian, Caroline Chagares, Mary Kate Probert, Claire Whitman, Devon Schulte and Madison Pomerantz each scored for the Raiders. Chagares was almost as prolific as Andresen, registering three assists, while Probert added a helper.

Morgan Sissler and Allyson Gillard split time in goal, with each making three saves. Fair Lawn's Kessiah Tolentino had 15 saves in goal.

The girls host Passaic Valley at 7 p.m. Friday.

Ramapo Gymnastics

The girls gymnastics squad improved to 4-3 Tuesday with a win over Randolph, 104.875 to 97.05.

Ramapo's Lauren Kisch led all athletes, with an overall 35.2. Randolph's Courtney Talbert and Lindsey Silverman were the second and third top performers, with a 33.625 and a 33.15, respectively.

On the vault, Kristen Giacose had a 9.125, but her teammates Kisch and Nicole Slingland were close behind, with an 8.575 and 8.15, respectively.

Kisch was the top scorer on the bars, as well, with an 8.725. Lauren Casey scored an 8.575, and Silverman earned an 8.15 for her performance.

On beam, Claire Scavone impressed with a 9.4. Randolph's Courtney Talbert placed next, at 8.5, narrowly edging Kisch, who scored an 8.475.

In the floor exercise, Kisch again led the girls, with a 9. Scavone was right behind, with an 8.95, and Randolph's Talbert scored an 8.825.

Ramapo Volleyball

  • The freshmen girls dropped a tough match to Fair Lawn on Tuesday, 16-25, 25-27.

After losing the first game by a healthy margin, the girls battled in the second game, coming close to a win at 24-17. But the Cutters came all the way back, tying the score before going up one, 25-24. But the Raiders couldn't hold off the Fair Lawn comeback to force a third game.

The freshmen travel to Passaic Valley for a 4:15 p.m. start Thursday.

  • The junior varsity girls defeated Fair Lawn Tuesday, 25-12, 25-22, to improve to 8-0. The girls next travel to Bergen Tech for a 5:30 p.m. start Friday.
  • The varsity girls also defeated Fair Lawn Tuesday, 25-19, 25-22. The girls improved to 9-1.
