Forty-one pedestrians were killed on Bergen County roads in the three years from 2009 through 2011, according to a report from the Tri-State Transportation Campaign.
The TSTC analysis of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration fatality data reveals that Essex Street in Hackensack and Route 17 had the highest number of pedestrian deaths over the period studied.
