Like S'Mores And Nature? Sanctuary In Franklin Lakes To Host 'Summer Sendoff'

The Audobon Society's Lorrimer Sanctuary in Bergen County will host a "summer sendoff" with s'mores this week.

FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ — Like s'mores? How about nature and family events?

The New Jersey Audubon Society's Lorrimer Nature Sanctuary, located in Franklin Lakes, is hosting a "campfire summer sendoff" this week.

After a summer running nature camps and other events, the sanctuary is inviting area families to roast marshmallows on the fire "while we tell tales of fun at summer camp!"

They added, "We’ll be playing camp favorite games with kids and parents alike, and searching for clues along the trails during our scavenger hunt."

Children must be accompanied by an adult, as it's not a drop-off program.

The organizers said, "To participate in the scavenger hunt and some games, participants must be able to hike roughly 0.5 miles over gravel trail terrain."

Tickets are $8 for a child who's a member and $9 for non-members.

The sanctuary, bequeathed to the Audubon Society in 1956 by an area resident, also has birdwatching activities, trails, school trips, and more.
