Wyckoff Launches 'Neighbors Helping Neighbors' Outreach Program
The program aims to "connect neighbors who need help to those neighbors who are willing to provide it."

Wyckoff has installed a new program: Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors ”is an outreach program requesting residents to volunteer to help neighbors who may have needs, especially during severe storms or other emergency conditions.”
The program’s volunteers, for example, would assist “a senior citizen [who] does not use a computer or cell phone, a newcomer [that] may not have friends or family in the immediate area to assist them during a critical time, or a neighbor who may have recently returned home from a hospital stay.”

- Wyckoff residents who may need assistance may telephone Town Hall at 201-891-7000, ext. 118. and leave your name, address and phone number on the voice mail.
- Residents will be contacted to confirm the need for assistance.
- As always, residents who need immediate emergency assistance should call 911.
How can you volunteer?
- The Township will assemble a list of individuals who have requested assistance and determine, based on their need, the frequency of calls/visits to provide assistance. Volunteers will be assigned on an as-need basis to those individuals who have requested assistance.
- A list of residents who are willing to volunteer will be organized in the following groups: A. Assist by checking in on a person who may need help. B. Assist by offering space in your home for a person if a power outage has occurred due to a storm. C. Assist by offering to take in a pet during an emergency. D. Assist in any way necessary.
Although the PSA says neighbors regularly help neighbors in Wyckoff, Town Hall frequently receives telephone calls from residents, especially when severe weather is forecast or electric power has been lost, who do not have friends or family or access to the internet and need assistance.
