• Georgia O'Keeffe's Views Of The NM Desert Will Be Preserved With Conservation Plan (focusnewspaper.com) — Land on the outskirts of Abiquiu is being placed under a new conservation easement that protects O’Keeffe’s iconic views, ranchers’ winter grazing routes, and access to Ghost Ranch’s retreat programs. The state-backed plan initially covers about 10 square miles near Abiquiu, with ambitions to expand protections along the Chama River and surrounding wildlife habitat.

• The New Mexico Desert That Inspired Georgia O'Keeffe Is Now a Protected Zone (artnews.com) — A major new conservation zone is being created just outside Abiquiu, protecting 26 square kilometers of sandstone bluffs, grasslands, and views around Abiquiu Lake and the Chama River that Georgia O’Keeffe painted. While her Abiquiu home and studio stay outside the boundary, the plan guards against future development, preserves ranchers’ winter grazing routes, and supports programs at nearby Ghost Ranch Education & Retreat Center.
