• Bloomfield man drives off cliff with dog, faces cruelty charge (tricityrecordnm.com) — A Bloomfield man is facing multiple misdemeanor charges after allegedly driving a car with his wife’s pug off a cliff near Blanco; the dog survived and he was later arrested. His preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 15 in Aztec Magistrate Court, giving local residents a timeline for when the case will next be reviewed.
   

• Technology issues in Aztec court end human trafficking hearing (tricityrecordnm.com) — A human trafficking case tied to a Farmington massage business was cut short in Aztec district court after serious technology problems made the Mandarin interpretation unreadable. Judge Curtis Gurley stopped the hearing and reset it for Jan. 20, explaining that court tech issues are affecting courts statewide. No immediate deadlines in the case were jeopardized, according to the defense.
