• El Paso park renamed to Trotter Memorial Park to honor young flood victims (kfoxtv.com) — Ruidoso residents should know an El Paso park is being renamed Trotter Memorial Park to honor two young siblings who died in the July Ruidoso floods. Their parents say the tribute reflects the children’s impact and are considering a foundation in their memory, keeping the tragedy’s legacy and community support in the public eye. 
• A new alert for missing Native people has been issued just six times. State police deny most requests. (nmindepth.com) — Ruidoso is one of the communities where state police have issued Turquoise Alerts for missing Native people, but most requests statewide are being denied under a narrow legal definition. Lawmakers and local police say the system isn’t working as intended and are pushing for statutory changes and better coordination so more families can get rapid help when loved ones disappear.
