• What to know about new SNAP work requirements (koat.com) — If you live in Taos Pueblo and receive SNAP, you’re specifically exempt from new federal work requirements taking effect January 1, 2026. The state is warning that many New Mexicans aged 18–64 will soon have to work, volunteer, or train 80 hours a month to keep benefits, but Taos Pueblo residents and several other groups won’t be subject to those rules.
   

• Heinrich, Mullin Reintroduce Bipartisan Indian Buffalo Management Act (ladailypost.com) — A Taos Pueblo of New Mexico member is among tribal leaders backing a bipartisan bill in Congress to expand support for buffalo herds on tribal lands. The proposal from Sens. Martin Heinrich and Markwayne Mullin would direct the Interior Department to work more closely with tribes on buffalo management, habitat restoration, and new herd programs, recognizing the animal’s cultural and food-security importance.
