NEW YORK — Trumpet the bloodhound snagged the first-ever Best In Show title for the breed in Wednesday night's 146th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in Tarrytown.

The bloodhound beat out stiff competition from the fan-favorite French bulldog and Maltese. Rounding out the group of finalists were a Lakeland terrier, a Samoyed, a German shepherd and an English setter.

After a tense round of judging the competition, Trumpet posed for photographers with his trophies and ribbons. Trumpet's handler, Heather Buehner, was proud and shocked to see the dog come out victorious, stating "sometimes I feel the bloodhound is a bit of an underdog.”
