Jet Skier Saved After Watercraft Sinks Near Statue of Liberty

NEW YORK CITY – A jet skier whose watercraft was taking on water and sinking near the Statue of Liberty was rescued Saturday, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

FDNY Marine 9 had received multiple maydays about the jet skier in distress around 1:16 p.m. and, by 2:20 p.m., the individual had been rescued.

The U.S. Coast Guard said it has not determined if the jet skier had crashed into something or tumbled over, but said the individual was not in a critical condition.
