NY Dad, Daughter Killed At Glacier National Park In Gun, Car Attack
Police say a man drove into a New York family, got out and fired shotgun blasts at the group, killing a father and daughter.
CUT BANK, MT — A father and his 18-month-child are dead after a New York family was attacked near Glacier National Park this weekend.
Derick Amos Madden, 37, of Goldsby, Oklahoma, deliberately hit the family with his vehicle around 9 p.m. Sunday, the Glacier County Sheriff's Officer said in a news release. Madden then crashed into a tree, got out of the car, and used a shotgun to fire several shots at them, police said.
Madden shot and killed David Siau and continued shooting as the family ran, wounding Christy Siau, 40, of Syracuse, New York, according to authorities. The gunfire mortally wounded Christy Siau's 1-year-old daughter McKenzie, whom she was holding.

After running out of ammunition, Madden used a knife to attack 30-year-old Christina Siau of East Glacier Park, critically injuring her, authorities said. Christina Siau ultimately killed Madden, though authorities did not say when during the attack or how he was killed.
According to police, Madden and Christina Siau knew each other. The sheriff's office described the attack as an "isolated...incident with a clear nexus between the victims and Madden." It wasn't immediately clear what provoked the attack. Madden had mental health issues, the sheriff's office said.

Two children ran from the attack and were not hurt.
McKenzie Siau later died at the Indian Health Service hospital in Browning, authorities confirmed. Christy and Christina Siau were flown to a hospital with critical injuries.
Authorities are also trying to determine if Madden had the shotgun legally.
Authorities didn't know of any previous interactions that Madden had with law enforcement. He had been working recently in East Glacier, a tourist town and gateway to the mountains in Glacier National Park, according to Jody Hickey, a spokesperson for Glacier County Sheriff Vernon "Napi" Billedeaux.
Christina Siau, originally from New York, had been living in East Glacier. Her family was visiting, Hickey said, according to The Associated Press.
Christy Siau previously worked as a bookkeeper for the American Baptist Churches of New York State, according to social media postings by the organization. She's described as "a long-time and beloved member" of the organization's staff in a statement from Executive Minister Rev. James Kelsey.
Christy and David Siau were also active in the First Baptist Church of Hoosick Falls, New York, Kelsey said.
