HEBRON, NY — A 20-year-old Schuylerville woman was killed in a shooting in upstate New York Saturday while traveling with friends and mistakenly turning into the wrong driveway in Hebron, according to local authorities and a GoFundMe campaign for her family.

As Kaylin Gillis and her friends were leaving in the vehicle, the homeowner opened fire on their car and fatally struck Gillies, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Officials added that the shooting occurred on Patterson Hill Road around 9:53 p.m.

Authorities told The Associated Press that the group was looking for a friend's house when they accidentally turned into the driveway of the wrong home, owned by Kevin Monahan, 65, according to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy. Monahan fired two shots, one of which hit Gillis, officials said.
