Own A Piece Of The Subway: MTA Launches Memorabilia Sale
MTA is opening its vault to sell signs, seats, and other pieces of subway history this October.

NEW YORK CITY — New York City is about to have a pop-up shop unlike any other.
The New York City Department of Transportation will be hosting a sale from Oct. 16-17 featuring all kinds of signs, seats, lamps and other subway novelties from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in Brooklyn.
This means you can buy anything from an L train sign to the two-tone orange seats, which are in the process of being phased out. The items at the sale were seriously all once part of the city's subway system, so expect to see the usual wear-and-tear, organizers of the event said.

Its possible there will be some MetroCard-related items at the pop-up shop, since the MTA is planning on phasing them out by the end of December. (Sigh.)
This is the forth such pop-up hosted by the MTA, but unlike previous years, this year's pop-up shop will accept walk-ins only. The event is open to the public.
