NEW YORK-- Buddy Holly the petit basset griffon Vendéen took home the Best In Show title in Tuesday night's 147th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York City's USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. This is the first Best in Show title for the hound breed.

The petit basset griffon Vendéen beat out the top dog breeds from the fan favorite Winston the French bulldog and Rummie the Pekingese. Rounding out the group of finalists were a Giant Schnauzer, an Australian Shepard, an American Staffordshire Terrier and an English Setter.

After winning the Best in Show title, Buddy Holly posed for photographers with his trophies and ribbons. Holly's handler and co-owner, Janice Hayes, was at a loss for words over the hound's win, stating, "I never thought a PBGV would do this". "Buddy Holly is the epitome of a show dog. Nothing bothers him.”
