PHOTOS: Dornoch Wins The 156th Belmont Stakes
Dornoch stormed the competition to win the 156th Belmont Stakes. See photos from at Saratoga Race Course and the packed stands.

ACROSS NEW YORK--Dornoch took home the $2 million purse in the 156th running of the Belmont Stakes in Saratoga. The other horses were no match for the bay colored thoroughbred, who stole the race in the final stretches.
This year's stakes race took place at Saratoga Race Course as Belmont Park is currently under a $455 million renovation. A different race course meant a shortened distance for the thoroughbreds to run. The usual 1 1/2 miles race was reduced to 1 1/4 miles because of Saratoga's course size. The small race reduction did not give any of the other horses an advantage as Dornoch was still able to beat the other nine horses by half a length. Jockey Luis Saez and trainer Danny Gargan celebrated in the winner circle. This is Luis Saez's second career Belmont Stakes win.
The Belmont marks the end of the Triple Crown races with no victor for the year but hopefully igniting hopes of another champion next year.
