ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that SEAN PACHECO, 39, of Watervliet, was arraigned before Honorable Andra Ackerman in Albany County Court late yesterday afternoon in relation to a murder that took place on November 21, 2021 on Central Avenue in the City of Albany.
An Albany County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging (1) Count of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class A-I Felony, (1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Class C Armed Violent Felony, (1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony, and (2) Counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, both Class A Misdemeanors.
The charges allege that on November 21, 2021 around 1:52 A.M., in the area of 309 Central Avenue, PACHECO shot and killed 35-year-old John Welcome of Albany with an illegally possessed firearm.
An investigation was headed by detectives in the Albany Police Department which led to PACHECO’s arrest. A search warrant at PACHECO’s residence on Eastview Drive in the City of Watervliet allegedly uncovered a quantity of cocaine, along with a scale and baggies.
PACHECO pleaded not guilty to the charges yesterday and was remanded in to custody without bail. A conference date has been scheduled by the Court on January 3, 2022.
