• Jewish Family Services celebrates 20 years, receives funding boost (cbs6albany.com) — Albany’s Jewish Family Services just received a $90,000 boost to keep its Neighborhood Naturally Occurring Retirement Community program supporting local older adults. For two decades, this initiative has helped Albany seniors stay independent with social activities and health resources, and new funding will extend those services for residents 60 and over.
   

• Baby boom at St. Peter's Hospital maternity unit (wnyt.com) — A wave of new babies has arrived at Albany’s St. Peter’s Hospital, where 26 staff members in the maternity unit have given birth this year. Nearly all of the new moms reunited at the hospital on December 16 to celebrate, with one more colleague due before year’s end.
   

• CEG: Capital Region becoming microelectronics hub for space programs (timesunion.com) — Albany’s NanoTech complex and IBM’s local research are key players in a growing Capital Region microelectronics hub supplying radiation-hardened chips for space missions. GlobalFoundries’ Malta fab, NY CREATES in Albany, GE Aerospace, and RPI are collectively drawing major federal contracts and satellite business, positioning the region as a critical supplier for NASA, SpaceX, and defense applications.
