ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that BRANDEN RIVERA, 19, of Albany, was indicted by a Grand Jury on (1) Count of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class A-1 Felony, and (2) Counts of Attempted Robbery in the First Degree, a Class C Violent Felony.
The indictment alleges that on May 24, 2021, while in the course of and in furtherance of the attempted commission of a robbery, RIVERA or another participant in the crime caused the death of Destiny Greene. A formal arraignment date is expected to be scheduled by the Court next week.
Assistant District Attorney Stephen Lydon and Bureau Chief Jessica Blain-Lewis of the Street Crimes Unit are handling the prosecution of this case.
