Man Killed In Motorcycle Accident On New York Interstate
New York State Police had attempted to stop the motorcycle's driver prior to the accident, authorities said.
SCHOHARIE, NY — A man was killed Tuesday when the motorcycle he was driving crashed into an embankment off Interstate 88, according to New York State Police.
At approximately 7:15 p.m., state police attempted to stop a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed on eastbound Interstate 88. When the trooper turned on their emergency lights, the operator of the 2007 Suzuki sped away, police said.
According to authorities, the trooper lost sight of the motorcycle and turned off their emergency lights while continuing east on I-88. The trooper later spotted the motorcycle just before it traveled off the road's south shoulder and down an embankment, police said.

The trooper was not actively pursuing the motorcycle when it crash, authorities said.
The driver of the motorcycle was later identified as 25-year-old Yohannes E. Bernot of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. Bernot was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.
