Astoria Will Have No Weekend N/W Train Service For Next 3 Weeks
Shuttle buses will replace N/W service in Astoria for the next three weekends as the MTA ramps up work on the Astoria Boulevard station.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — Shuttle buses will replace N/W train service in Astoria for the next three weekends as the MTA ramps up its renovation of the Astoria Boulevard subway station.
Free shuttle buses will transport riders between Queensboro Plaza and Ditmars Boulevard the weekends of July 13-14, July 20-21 and July 27-28, starting 3:45 a.m. each Saturday until 10:00 p.m. each Sunday.
The service change is meant to help expedite construction on the Astoria Boulevard station, which the MTA says will reopen in December.

The intersection at 31st Street and Hoyt Avenue South will be closed to traffic during those same three weekends — except for Sunday, July 28 — to allow workers to demolish and rebuild the station mezzanine.

Northbound traffic on 31st Street between Broadway and 30th Avenue will be detoured onto 33rd Street those weekends, the MTA says.
Hoyt Avenue North will remain open.
The ninth-month Astoria Boulevard renovation will add four elevators to make the station accessible and rebuild the station platform with new stairs, benches and lighting.
The MTA is also rebuilding the station mezzanine and walkways so trucks won't hit the bottom of the station.
