Famed Astoria Cookie Bakery To Open Ice Cream Shop: Reports
Chip NYC, praised for having "the best cookies in the world," will open an ice cream shop in Astoria in May, QNS reported.

ASTORIA, QUEENS -- An Astoria bakery best known for its soft, fluffy cookies with surprise gooey centers will soon add ice cream to its resume of sweet treats, news reports say.
Chip NYC will open its very own ice cream shop in Astoria on May 1, according to QNS and the bakery's social media account.
Chip Ice Cream will take over former Astoria nightclub Cavo's space at 42-18 31st Ave., manager Vicki Lambropoulou told QNS. The new eatery will sell a variety of ice cream flavors packed with chunks of Chip's signature cookies as well as ice cream sandwiches and coffee, the media outlet reported.

Management at Chip NYC did not immediately return Patch's requests for comment, but the bakery announced vague news of an ice cream shop opening in an Instagram post on April 11.

This isn't Chip NYC's first time making headlines. The bakery garnered national attention in January when national media outlet Food Envy dubbed its sweet treats "the gooiest cookies in NYC" and "the best cookies in the world" in a Facebook video that's since been viewed more than 5 million times.

The owners of Chip NYC opened their first location at 30-06 34th St. to recreate "the simple taste of our favorite childhood sweet, according to the bakery's website.
The result can be seen as the bakery's thick, fluffy cookies are cracked open to reveal a surprise gooey core, whose flavors vary by season. S'mores, apple pie, funfetti and the original chocolate chip are among the its most popular flavors right now.
Chip NYC also sells its flavor-packed cookies from a stand at the Gansevoort Market in Chelsea, Manhattan, and will soon open two more locations - one near Queens Plaza in Long Island City this June and another in Brooklyn that will serve both cookies and ice cream in July, QNS reported.
