Group Robs, Punches Man At Astoria Subway Stop In Broad Daylight: NYPD
A man was robbed and punched in the face in broad daylight at an Astoria subway station on Labor Day, according to police.
ASTORIA, QUEENS — Three men assaulted and robbed a man at an Astoria subway station in broad daylight on Monday, according to police, who released images of the suspects on Tuesday.
The Labor Day robbery happened at the Steinway Street R train stop, where the 39-year-old victim was walking down the stairs from the mezzanine level just after 10 a.m., police said.
Three unidentified men walked up and pushed him against the wall, as at least one of the suspects punched him in the mouth with a closed fist, police said.

After demanding money, the three men flashed a knife and snatched the man's wallet, containing credit cards and about $40 in cash, police said.
The man's face was bruised and swollen but he declined medical attention at the scene, police said.

Police described all three men as roughly 18 to 20 years old. The first was wearing a white t-shirt, white shorts, black sneakers, a multicolored cloth around his neck, a blue hat, and a black head covering; the second was wearing all black clothing and red-and-white sneakers; and the third man wore a black hoodie, tan sweatpants and black-and-tan sneakers, police said.
