Hazmat Incident At Astoria Restaurant Hospitalizes 2, Authorities Say

A carbon monoxide leak in a Ditmars Boulevard building Monday sent two people to the hospital and injured four others, authorities said.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — Two people were hospitalized following a carbon monoxide leak in an Astoria building Monday evening, according to police.

The incident unfolded shortly before 9 p.m. at 31-29 Ditmars Blvd., home to Burgerology restaurant, on the corner of 33rd Street, according to an FDNY spokesperson said.

Two people were taken to Weill Cornell Hospital, while another four victims declined medical attention at the scene, authorities said. The conditions of the hospitalized victims were not released.

The Fire Department was able to stop the leak at the scene, the agency said. The FDNY did not specify where in the building the leak originated.

Video posted to the Citizen app showed a large group of emergency vehicles lining Ditmars Boulevard Monday evening.
