Heavy Rain, Winds Causing Delays At NYC Area Airports: What To Know
A ground stop at LaGuardia was expected to be lifted around 11 a.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
NEW YORK CITY — New Yorkers traveling out of New York City area airports on Friday will have to deal with delays and ground stops.
Currently, departure and arrival flights out of LaGuardia Airport are experiencing delays of over an hour and are expected to increase.
According to the National Weather Service, rain showers in the area will stick around until 1 p.m. Parts of the city were placed under a coastal flood advisory, with some areas poised to see flooding of up to 1 ½ feet.

At John F. Kennedy International Airport, departure flights are experiencing delays of around 41 minutes and are expected to increase as well. Newark Airport is currently experiencing departure delays an average of 32 minutes and increasing.
