An LIC Restaurant Is The Best In NYC, According To The NYT

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — An Indian eatery in Long Island City is among the New York Times' 100 Best Restaurants of 2023—earning the 35th spot on the list.

"Much of the restaurant business is governed by fear, and when a chef leaves that fear behind, amazing things can happen," food critic Pete Wells writes in the Times article. "Adda is where Chintan Pandya started cooking like a man with nothing to lose; the slashing, trumpets-blaring flavors he whips up there set the standard for all the restaurants his Unapologetic Foods group opened later."

Adda, which means "a place where people hang out” in Hindi, was opened in 2018 by Unapologetic Foods led by chef Chintan Pandya and restaurateur Roni Mazumdar.
Wells recommends the Bheja Fry, the Tandoori Macchi, and the Lucknow Dum Biryani.

Adda Indian Canteen is open for dinner Tuesday to Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and for lunch Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
CheLi in Flushing, Zaab Zaab in Elmhurst, and Birria-Landia in Jackson Heights were also among the eateries to make it in the yearly list.
