Little Free Library Comes To Court Square
The free book exchange in Court Square Park is meant to help fill the void left by the closure of the Court Square Library.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — A new "Little Free Library" has popped up in Court Square Park to offer Long Island City residents a range of new reads during the coronavirus pandemic.
The free book exchange is the product of a partnership between the Court Square Civic Association, the Friends of Court Square Library and M. Wells Steakhouse.
It is meant to help fill the void left by the closure of the local library branch in February, after the Queens Public Library was unable to negotiate a new lease with the building's landlord.

Prior to the closure, Queens Public Library CEO Dennis Walcott said he was still working on finding a new space that would be "affordable and appropriate" for the library.
View this post on InstagramIt's clear NYC is entering an uncertain time, and promised investments in Court Square & LIC seem in jeopardy. However on a positive note, there are still many here. And we still live in NYC, love NYC, and will always fight for NYC. And although we lost our @qplnyc Library, we remain optimistic of a new branch opening one day. Until the new library opens however, please visit the new @freelittlelibrary in Court Square Park thanks to friends at @mwellshq and many others. Stop by, grab a book, donate a book, and keep on caring!
