LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS -- The NYPD is looking for a man who shoved a police officer to the ground and fled after she tried to cuff him for entering a Queens subway station without paying , police told Patch.

Police said on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at around 12:35 p.m., the man hopped a turnstile inside the Queens Plaza "N/R" subway station in attempts to avoid paying a subway fare. A uniformed on-duty NYPD officer stopped the suspect in the station's mezzanine and attempted to arrest him when he "suddenly and unexpectedly" turned around and shoved her to the ground, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

The officer attempted to chase the man, but he fled the station aboard a northbound train, police said. She was sent to a nearby hospital for lower back pain caused by the unexpected twisting of the fall, and bruising to her left hand after she used it to break her fall, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
