ASTORIA, QUEENS — A man was found floating in the East River near the Astoria Ferry Terminal Wednesday morning, police said.

Officers rushed to the Astoria waterfront about 6 a.m. after a 911 call of a body floating in the water near Vernon Boulevard and 30th Drive, according to the NYPD.

First responders pulled the fully clothed, 30-something man out of the East River where he was pronounced dead, police said. He remains unidentified several hours later, according to the NYPD.

The man didn't have any signs of trauma on his body when he was pulled from the water, meaning police don't suspect criminality, a spokesperson said.

That could change at any point, though, the spokesperson said, noting that a medical examiner will determine the man's cause of the death and that the incident remains under NYPD investigation.
