Man Stabbed At Queensboro Plaza In Random Attack: Police

A man was stabbed in the face on a 7 train at the busy Long Island City subway station in the middle of Friday's rush hour, police said.

The rush-hour attack happened around 8:40 a.m. on a Manhattan-bound train, when a fellow passenger used a knife to stab the man, unprovoked, in the right side of his face and hand, an NYPD spokesperson said.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A man was randomly stabbed on board a 7 train as it pulled into the Queensboro Plaza subway station Friday morning, according to police.

The rush-hour attack happened around 8:40 a.m. on a Manhattan-bound train, when a fellow passenger used a knife to stab the 62-year-old man, unprovoked, in the right side of his face and hand, an NYPD spokesperson said.

The victim was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The suspect got off the train and exited Queensboro Plaza to the street level, police said.

Police described the suspect as a man wearing a black and gold button-down shirt.

The attack caused Manhattan-bound 7 trains to run with delays, the MTA said in a tweet, attributing it to a "passenger being disruptive."
