Motorcyclist Dies After Launching Into Driver Making U-Turn: NYPD
The motorcyclist, who braked when a driver made a U-turn in the middle of a Sunnyside block, flew over his bike into the car, police said.

SUNNYSIDE, QUEENS — A motorcyclist, who hit the brakes when a sedan driver made a U-turn in the middle of the street, catapulted into the car and died last Thursday, police said.
On the evening of Sept. 10, around 5:30 p.m., a 66-year-old driver made a U-turn in the middle of 43 Street, near Skillman Avenue. At the same time, a 31-year-old motorcyclist was traveling down 43 Street, and hit the brakes to try and avoid crashing into the car, according to the NYPD.
The motorcyclist, however, catapulted off his bike and smashed into the driver’s sedan, the NYPD reported. Police said they found him lying in the middle of the road unconscious, and took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name hasn’t been released yet, pending family notification.

The driver stayed at the scene at the time of the accident, police said.
According to the NYPD, however, as of Sept. 11 no arrests have been made and the investigation by the New York City Police Department's Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad remains ongoing.
