New LIC Indoor Golf Venue Moving In Next To Trader Joe's
The newest addition to booming Court Square will be Five Iron Golf, a rapidly-expanding chain of indoor golf-simulation venues.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — Starting this fall, Western Queens residents looking to hit the links won't need to venture outside the neighborhood — thanks to the arrival of Five Iron Golf.
The chain of indoor golf venues will open up a new location in the Jackson Avenue storefront near 46th Avenue, next door to Trader Joe's and steps from the Court Square subway station.
It could open up as soon as October, Five Iron co-founder Nora Dunnan told Patch by email. Besides the small storefront, Five Iron will mostly occupy a basement space below Trader Joe's.

Billing itself as an "indoor golf and entertainment experience," Five Iron's signature technology allows people to tee off onto a virtually-generated golf course.
Once open, Five Iron will include seven "top of the line" Trackman golf simulators, plus a 12-seat bar, a kitchen serving food and drinks, a locker room, other games, as well as TVs and music, according to the company.

Since opening its first location in Manhattan in 2017, Five Iron has rapidly expanded, now running three New York City locations, 11 more in other cities like Philadelphia and Seattle, and upcoming locations in Detroit, Boston, and the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
In Long Island City, Five Iron will occupy the ground floor of Prime LIC, an 11-story condo building completed last year. Representatives told Community Board 2 in March that the venue will be soundproofed.
The food, meanwhile, will be "Elevated American cuisine" with items like flatbreads, dips and sliders, according to notes from the meeting.
Signate for Five Iron will go up next week, Dunnan said.
Five Iron will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays, 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Saturdays, and 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sundays. Programming will range from simulator rentals to golf lessons, league play and custom club fittings.
No business has yet moved in to the building's third and final storefront on the corner of 46th Avenue. A real estate listing for the space touts its proximity to Five Iron and Trader Joe's, saying it could be "perfect for a coffee user."
