Softball Sign-Up Ends On Wednesday For Astoria's Rec League

ASTORIA, QUEENS — This Wednesday is the last change to sign up for an Astoria summer-slash-fall softball league.

Astoria Sports, a co-ed recreational sports league in northwest Queens, is accepting final signups for its upcoming softball season at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday night at Rivercrest, a bar located at 33-15 Ditmars Boulevard, the group announced.

The six-game season, which begins on August 7, costs $50 for returning players, and $55 for new players.

All games are played on Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. and 6 p.m. at Queensbridge Park, located at 41 Avenue and Vernon Boulevard.

The league includes "multiple divisions," namely one that's more experienced, another for intermediates, and the third for "casual" or "beginner" players, according to a community thread.

"This is exactly what I was looking for," wrote one local, who was initially worried that the sports team would be too competitive, but is now planning on signing up for the beginner team.
