Astoria

Is the nominee considered an “essential worker?”:

Yes

What does the nominee do for work?:

Trauma surgeon (orthopedics) at a Bronx hospital

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?:

All medical workers, especially those working in hospitals and nursing homes, should be recognized. They go to work each day without the equipment they need to be safe, surrounded by sick people who are likely infected with this virus. They then go home to their families, often infecting them too. There is no other profession that we ask that of.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:

Despite the current dangers of this work, he loves what he does.
