A white woman was caught on video throwing a bottle and shouting a racist slur at a Black woman jogging near the Astoria-Woodside border.
ASTORIA, QUEENS — A white woman was caught on video throwing a bottle and shouting a racist slur at a Black woman jogging near the Astoria-Woodside border.
A video of the incident surfaced online this week, nearly a month after the assault unfolded at the corner of 53rd Place and Broadway, and has since been shared thousands of times on Facebook and Twitter.
Tiffany Johnson, who identified herself as the jogger in the video, spoke out about the attack in a Facebook post Monday.

"Racism is truly real and alive even in a diverse area like Astoria/Woodside Queens, NY," she wrote. "My freedom, my time, my humanity matters, my body matters. I hope this helps to raise awareness to a real issue. #runningwhileblack or literally doing ANYTHING while black."
The assault unfolded about noon on Aug. 17, the police said in a news release.

Johnson, 37, was out for a run when a woman threw a glass bottle at her and shouted, “Get out of here, n—-r, go back to Africa," according to the New York Post.
"This incident happened to me while I was jogging in 98 degree weather minding my business," Johnson wrote. "I had no idea somebody was filming this, it literally surfaced 1 month later and is now viral on the internet."
Johnson added: "I am glad that I walked away because my freedom and time are my commodity. This is the world that we live in."
The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the attack.
