Woman Slashed In The Neck, Hand In Astoria: NYPD
The 38-year-old woman was walking along 35th Street when she was attacked Monday night, according to police.
ASTORIA, QUEENS — A woman was slashed in the neck and hand while walking through Astoria on Monday night, according to the police.
The 38-year-old woman was heading north on 35th Street toward 36th Avenue just after 10 p.m. when a man came up to her and attacked her, an NYPD spokesperson said.
She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition.

In a Reddit post, a person who claimed to have witnessed the slashing said the man was wielding a box cutter when he pinned the woman against a car and attacked her.
The self-described witness said the man then attempted to steal the woman's wallet, but NYPD spokesperson Det. Sophia Mason said the woman's wallet was found on the scene and nothing had been taken.

The man, who was wearing a white turtleneck and black pants, fled south on 35th Street, police said.
