After 20 Years, Babylon Carriage House Closes — Temporarily
The restaurant announced that it closed its doors after 20 years, but plans to reopen.

BABYLON VILLAGE, NY — A beloved Babylon Village restaurant caused a stir on social media by saying it closed its doors, but later clarified it planned to reopen.
Babylon Carriage House, self-described as an "elegant eatery with rich flavors and history in the heart of Babylon", wrote on social media Wednesday it closed.
"After nearly 20 years since its opening, Babylon Carriage House has closed its doors," the restaurant said. "We thank our staff and our community for your continued support and can't wait to share what's to come."

The restaurant did not give a reason for the closure.
Many in the community expressed sadness by the news, with the post receiving more than 270 comments.

"So sad," wrote one person. "We had so many amazing dinners there, fun nights out, and held parties for our children’s baptisms there. This was definitely one of our favorite spots in Babylon."
One person shared a life-changing experience they had at the restaurant.
"Me and my girlfriends had many fun night there in our 30’s and I also met my husband there on New Year's Eve many, many years ago so it will always be a special place to us all," the person said.
Another said the business was "only closed for renovations and will be back."
Its status on Google Maps said the restaurant is "Temporarily Closed." This not been confirmed with the restaurant.
