Babylon Village Donates Fire Trucks To Help Kentucky Recover
Kentucky was ravaged in December by what Gov. Andy Beshear called "the most devastating tornado event in our state's history."
BABYLON, NY — The Babylon Fire Department is helping Kentucky recover from last month's devastating tornadoes by donating two fire trucks to the state.
Two Babylon fire trucks from the 1980s were donated to Kentucky through the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund, which assists fire departments nationwide by coordinating donations of supplies and money.
The donation was approved by the Babylon Village Board of Trustees at its Jan. 11 meeting, according to that meeting's minutes.

"A little bit of Babylon in Kentucky and for a wonderful cause!" officials wrote on the Village of Babylon Facebook page. "Godspeed Kentucky and our thoughts and prayers are with you!"
At least 70 people were killed after four tornadoes swept across Kentucky in December 2021, The New York Times reported. One stayed on the ground for more than 200 miles, according to the Times.

Other Long Island towns have also assisted with recovery efforts as well.
Smithtown donated surplus equipment — such as bunker gear, lighting equipment, gloves, nozzles, fans, and a Hurst "Jaws of Life" extrication tool — to Kentucky fire departments.
