Reader Photo: Capturing Natural Beauty and Frigid Sunsets at Argyle Park

Our focus on reader-submitted photos of Babylon Village.

It was freezing cold that night but the clouds were irresistible so amateur photographer Annabelle Scala packed up her Sony Cyber-shot camera and headed over to Argyle Park this February to await what she hoped was going to be a spectacular sunset.

She was rewarded with the beautiful shot above.

“I remember that evening to be very cold and windy, perhaps 25 degrees,” Scala  told Patch by email. “I planned to go to the lake that evening because I saw that there were clouds in the sky, and that usually says that we might have an interesting sunset.”

Scala only lives a mile away from the park in Babylon Village and it’s captivated her lens for a while.

“I have enjoyed photography for a long time,” she said. “Argyle Park has had my attention for five years.”

After experiencing the “natural beauty” of Yellowstone Park years ago, Scala became interested in photography.

“Returning home, I decided to capture the natural beauty found around my village, and Argyle Park was the place I picked to do that,” she said.

Her local park has yet to disappoint.

“It has surprised me every time I go there, from the smallest details of little flowers and leaves dancing in the water in a fall day, to captivating mornings in the mist, not to mention the wild life,” she said.

This was the first photo Scala ever uploaded to Babylon Patch but we hope to get the chance to share many more great pictures with our readers.
