South Bay Cinemas Announces Expected Opening Date
The beloved movie theater is expected to reopen, after a long journey of renovations.

WEST BABYLON, NY — South Shore residents can count down the days until they can watch movies in a beloved local theater.
South Bay Cinemas, located at 495 Montauk Hwy in West Babylon, is expected to open on June 16, a source told Patch.
The business had closed its doors more than seven years ago.

The cinemas will include five theaters, all new recliner seats, and new screens. One theater will hold about 250 people.
"Everything is brand new," said Jerry Hogan, who is in charge of the building's plumbing.

It will also serve beer and liquor, in addition to traditional movie theater snacks.
The businesses confirmed its reopening with Patch in April. Community members gave an overwhelming reaction to the business's news.
"I have fond memories as a kid going to that theater," one Patch reader commented.
"This is great!" another reader commented. "This theatre is a classic at this point!"
The theater also received an astounding interest in open positions., so much so that it only hired 15 percent of employee applications, it wrote on social media.
"The turnout was great and so many of you were fantastic candidates that we would love to have here," the business wrote in a post on May 13.
