'They’re Not Alone': Hundreds Unite For 'No Kings' Protest In Suffolk

The Long Island event was one of an estimated 2,000 nationwide protests against the Trump administration and ICE raids around the country.

LINDENHURST, NY — Hundreds of people spoke out against President Donald Trump and his administration on Saturday during the "No Kings" protest in Lindenhurst.

The gathering was part of an estimated 2,000 protests across the country on the same day a parade was scheduled in Washington to commemorate the U.S. military's 250th anniversary, which coincided with Trump's 79th birthday and Flag Day.

"No Kings is a nationwide day of defiance," according to organizers. "From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we’re taking action to reject authoritarianism — and show the world what democracy really looks like."

In Lindenhurst, protesters carried bright posters that read "Dump 47," "Save Democracy," "Let ICE melt," "Think While It's Still Legal," "No Kings in America" "Fu** Trump," and "If You're Not Outraged, You're Not Paying Attention," among many others.

The crowd was large and peaceful, with people of all ages from all walks of life standing in the rain, diverse in background, color and age, but united in their message.

"Saturday’s No Kings Protest brought hundreds of local residents together with hundreds of thousands more across the country to say ‘enough’ to this administration’s attacks on our democracy," Suffolk County Legislator Jason Richberg told Patch. "This wasn’t just about opposing one person; it was a clear message to our neighbors that they’re not alone, and that we are united in defending the rule of law.

Protests took place all across Long Island Saturday, including events in Nassau County and Riverhead that drew about 1,000 participants.
