US Coast Guard Ceases Search For Missing Boater, Police Continue

GREAT SOUTH BAY, NY — The United States Coast Guard has concluded its search for a missing boater on Monday, about 24 hours after he was reported missing.

James Jaronczyk, 28 of Massapequa, was alone on a 22-foot Progression speedboat at about 4:33 p.m. on the Great South Bay when he fell into the water, police said.

The Coast Guard and Suffolk County Police began a search for Jaronczyk around Sunday afternoon, but stopped at about 8 p.m. on Monday, a representative confirmed with Patch.
