WEST BABYLON, NY — West Babylon residents have spoken.
The West Babylon School District's 2023 to 2024 budget of $129,410,664 with a budget-to-budget increase of 5.46 percent and a tax levy increase of 3.58 percent passed with 897 votes for "yes" and 505 votes for "no".
Residents also decided on Proposition No. 2, which would establish a 2023 Capital Reserve Fund totaling $20 million plus investment income for the purpose of financing district-wide repairs, renovations and improvements over a 10-year period without affecting taxes, the district website said.

The proposition was approved with 951 votes for "yes" and 426 votes for "no".
For the race for Board of Education, five candidates vyed for three open seats.

Patti Neville, who obtained 985 votes, Raymond Downey, who obtained 807 votes, and Cathy Gismervik, who obtained 723 votes, were elected as trustees.
Candidates Matthew Amore received 480 votes and Lauren Brand received 524 votes.
