• Beagle Lovers and Rescuers (thebatavian.com) — A Batavia resident is leading a shoe drive to support beagles rescued from laboratory testing, with donations accepted at four local businesses through Jan. 20. Residents can drop off pairs at The YNGODESS, Country Max, Mrs. Green’s CANNAry, and Genesee Feeds to help fund rescue, advocacy, and rehoming efforts while also supporting small entrepreneurs abroad.
   

• Former Notre Dame principal Wade Bianco honored at National Football Foundation banquet (thebatavian.com) — A former principal of Notre Dame High School in Batavia, Wade Bianco, has been honored with the 2025 National Football Foundation Northeast leadership award, underscoring the school’s strong football legacy. At Sunday’s banquet, which he emceed, more than 135 student athletes were recognized, including local standouts Jacob Johnson of Pembroke and Addison Tonzi of Le Roy, who each earned scholarship awards.
