Bay Shore Man Used Discord App To Kidnap 11-Year-Old Girl In Queens: DA
Prosecutors say the child was lured through a mobile app and was found at the man's home "in a state of undress."
BAY SHORE, NY — A Bay Shore man has been indicted on kidnapping and related charges after prosecutors say he met an 11-year-old girl through a mobile application, picked her up at her Queens school, and brought her to his home in Suffolk County.
Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said Nicholas Wieber, 28, was indicted by a grand jury on charges including first-degree kidnapping after an investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies led to the child’s recovery.
According to prosecutors, Wieber began communicating with the child in early December 2025 on Discord, a free communication application commonly used by children while playing online games. Prosecutors said the messages quickly became sexual in nature.

On Dec. 12, the child went to school in Queens but never returned home, prosecutors said. When the girl did not get off the school bus at the end of the day, her mother began calling the girl's friends in an effort to locate her. During those calls, the mother learned that the girl had reportedly been picked up by an older male, according to the district attorney’s office.
The mother then contacted the New York City Police Department, which launched a search for the missing child, prosecutors said.

The investigation ultimately led police to Wieber’s residence in Bay Shore on the evening of Dec. 13. Suffolk County police were contacted for assistance, and officers responded to the home, where the child was found in a state of undress in Wieber’s bed, prosecutors said. Wieber was arrested at the scene, and the child was safely reunited with her family.
Wieber was arraigned Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, before Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro on charges of first and second degree kidnapping, Class A-I and Class B felonies, and endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor, prosecutors said.
Justice Ambro ordered Wieber held on $250,000 cash bail, $500,000 bond, or a $2.5 million partially secured bond while the case is pending, the DA’s office said.
Wieber is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 17, 2026. If convicted on the top count, he faces a potential sentence of 25 years to life in prison, prosecutors said.
Wieber is represented by defense attorney Larry Flowers, who declined to comment on the case.
“This case underscores the exceptional work of law enforcement, whose coordinated response led to the recovery of a kidnapped child,” Tierney said. “Their vigilance, skill, and determination ensured the child was found safely and returned to her parents without delay.”
