BAY SHORE, NY — A housing complex that may be the only one of its kind in the U.S. continues to welcome new tenants in Bay Shore. The LGBT Network's LGBT/LGBT Friendly Senior Housing is an affordable-housing complex geared toward LGBT residents 55 and over.

The complex has 75 units, one and two bedrooms, in a new four-story building at 28 Park Avenue, close to downtown Bay Shore's Main Street businesses and the Long Island Rail Road station.

The complex may be the first affordable senior housing for the LGBTQ+ community in a suburban setting, the LGBT Networks said.

The complex also has a 8,000-square foot LGBT community center to support the residents. The units are awarded via an application and lottery. There are 11 mobility and hearing impaired units. Amenities include Energy Star appliances, on-site resident super, elevator, intercom system, security cameras, laundry room, community room, and accessible parking.
