Kaitlyn was on her way from Farm Playground to get pizza with two friends, both 18, when four unidentified men jumped out of two BMWs, police said.
The men began arguing with Lau and her friends, then one of them pulled out a gun and started to shoot, said police.
Kaitlyn was shot in the neck, one friends was shot in the leg and another in the torso, police said.
The men then sped off in a gray sedan driving north on 188th Street, abandoning the second car which detectives later found, according to the NYPD.
Kaitlyn’s friends were sent to New York Hospital Queens, while she was sent to Long Island Jewish Medical Center, according to authorities.
It was later discovered during a fundraiser, which was raising $82,000 for her medical expenses, that a bullet was lodged in her spinal cord and may leave her permanently paralyzed from the neck down, according to GoFundMe.
